We're now receiving registrations for our 2nd Annual Day of the Seafarer Peak Challenge on Monday, June 25th.  The number of teams are limited so don't wait to register.   For more information visit our Events Page.

Now Accepting Grant Applications for 2018

The ISSC is now accepting applications under our grant program. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate a need for financial assistance and provide details of operations in support of visiting seafarers in Canada.  

To apply, submit the completed Grant Application to our offices before the deadline: May 11, 2018.

Nominate a Volunteer for the Peter Bernard Award


The ISSC Board of Directors established the ‚ÄúPeter G. Bernard Volunteer Recognition Award" in 2015 to recognize Peter's contribution to the Society as a member of the ISSC Board from 1977 to 2014 (37 years).   This annual award seeks to recognize others that generously contribute their time to support the welfare of seafarers.  We are seeking nominations of volunteers who have shown an exemplary commitment to improving the welfare of seafarers in a Canadian port.  Deadline for this year's nomination is May 11, 2018.

2017 Bursary Winners

The ISSC is proud to introduce the deserving winners of the International Sailors' Society of Canada Bursaries in 2017!  


Rhianna Henderson


A newly qualified Watchkeeping Mate who has been sailing and racing keelboats and dinghies since she was young. Rhianna hopes to earn her Master Mariner Certificate by 30 and become one of the first female pilots on the West Coast. 

Jett Mannings

Jett smaller

Jett is going into the third year of his cadet program. So far, he's worked on the Algoma Integrity, Discovery and Harvester. Before setting sail, Jett worked as a cabinetmaker and he looks forward to more exciting years at sea.
